Dose of Lola

Although I have several Nina Ultra Pro polishes, I'd never actually used any of them until this mani. I have a habit of falling in love with a color, buying it, and then forgetting about it as soon as I put it away. Well no more, I say! I'm probably totally going to break that habit.

fuchsia cream with pink and blue glitter nail polish
2 coats Violet It Ride w/ 1 coat OPI Polka.com, with topcoat

Nina Ultra Pro Violet It Ride is a...what is it? The name makes me want to call it violet, but there's nothing violet about it, in my opinion. It's a fuchsia creme that definitely has some neon pigment in it because it dries to a satin finish.

The formula was just okay. It was on the thick side, but I had no issues with the application. The wear was also not spectacular. I experienced a few chips on day two. I'll have to try this with a different base and top coat combo.

Nina Ultra Pro Violet It Ride retails for $4.69 and is available at Sally Beauty.

If you haven't seen my review of Illamasqua Venous yet, check it out here.

green nail polish creme comparison
2 coats of each

No dupes here! Misa Dirty Sexy Money is similar, but it's not as vibrant and has a touch more green than Illamasqua Venous. Barielle Sweet Addiction's difference are obvious.

I'd say they are different enough to own all three, but if I had to choose one, it would definitely be Illamasqua Venous.

Nails Ince Soho Mews tan texture nail polish
2 coats

Nails Inc. Soho Mews is a lovely shade of tan. For me, that's where the loveliness ends. Textured polish without any sparkle just looks gross to me. Soho Mews certainly doesn't look like any leather I own. I gave it a shot, and I'm now positive I won't be purchasing anymore of this particular finish.

I'd love this color in a creme finish. Any recs?

Nails Inc. Soho Mews retails for $12 and is available at Sephora inside JCP.

2 coats

Nails Inc. Royal Botanical Gardens is the perfect mint green creme. It's not too yellow or too blue. It is just mint perfection.

2 coats

Nails Inc. Chelsea Physic Garden is a sky blue creme. I love that it's pastel, but it has a nice vibrancy to it.

2 coats

Nails Inc. Kensington Palace Gardens is a salmon pink creme. We already know how I feel about shades like this. I can never have too many. If you like this one, a cheaper alternative may be Finger Paints Gimme Some Sugar, it's just slightly pinker.

2 coats

Yes, it's labeled incorrectly. This is why I shouldn't label photos without the bottles in front of me. My guesses are always incorrect.

The formula on these is quite nice. They went on a little streaky but self-leveled quickly. They're also quite shiny without top coat.

Nails Inc. Trend Shades retail for $9.50 and are available at Sephora. There is a fourth polish (a red) in this collection, but I have yet to see it available in the U.S.

Previously exclusive to Japan as Frou Frou, this gorgeous lilac has finally arrived in the US as Lilac Colorvision. I'm obsessed.

2 coats, with top coat

Dior Lilac Colorvision is a lilac creme. It has a touch of pink in it, as most lilacs do. I typically prefer lavenders to lilacs, but this one isn't too pink.

Lilac Colorvision has an immaculate formula. It basically applied itself. After trudging through the Sparkling Shine formula, this was a nice treat. Great wear, too. I snapped this photo after 3 days of wear.

Dior Lilac Colorvision retails for $24 and is available exclusively at Sephora.

What do you do when you can't decided which polish to wear?

You wear more than one, of course! This is Zoya Godiva and Nyx, 3 coats of each. They behaved so well and dried so quickly that I was able to do this mani without the use of tape. The Zoya Pixie Dusts are by far my favorite texture polishes. So sparkly and sugary.

All the shades in this collection have the most gorgeous shimmer. I did my best to try to capture it, but you need to see these in person!

3 coats

Dior Delice is a bright coral shimmer. It's definitely more orange than anything else. It's borderline unwearable for me, but I think shimmer softens it up a bit.

2 coats

Dior Diablotine is a red coral shimmer that is the most pigmented of the bunch. There's a cool pink shimmer in this that keeps it from being too warm. Love! I bought Diablotine the lipgloss, and I'm equally obsessed with that.

3 coats

Dior Princess is a light pink shimmer. It leans a tiny bit warm, but everything on me seems to do that, so keep that in mind. Princess is gorgeous. It has a lovely softness to it, but it's still interesting.

3 coats, with tc

Dior Spring Ball is a light coral/peach shimmer. My favorite of the bunch! I wore this as a full mani, hence the top coat. It's seriously so gorgeous. I'm considering a backup (someone stop me!).

The formula on these was thicker than I expected. I guess all that shimmer made these a little gummy. They still self-leveled pretty well, and I didn't have any issues with balding. It's definitely not the immaculate Dior formula I've come to know and love, though.

The Dior Sparkling Shine collection retails for $25* and is available at Sephora.

*The regular Dior Vernis line is still $24.

3 coats Glints of Glinda with 1 coat Pirouette My Whistle

OPI Glints of Glinda is a warm, sheer nude, and it's my favorite from the Oz collection. The formula is similar to the NYC Ballets - easy to apply and self-leveling. OPI Pirouette My Whistle had been untried for a year, so I figured it was time to throw it over something. I quite like the combo.

A much needed palate cleanser after weeks of brights.
