Dose of Lola

As I slowly work my way through my untried/neglected shadows, I've finally come to terms with something. I love looking at green and blue eyeshadows, but wearing them makes me nervous as hell. I always spend way too much time figuring out what to pair them with and usually end up just applying a bit to my lower lash line. No wonder my blue and green palettes look brand new!

No more, I say! I'm going to (hopefully) make all these shadows work for me...

So, of course I started with a shadow that's super easy to wear (yeah, I'm lazy). UD Shattered is a gorgeous green-blue-gold shadow that's really cool because you can pick which color you want to be dominant by the base you use. I went with a green base (MAC Sweet Sage f/l). I'd imagine this would work on most skintones since it's such a chameleon shade. Check it out the next time you're at Sephora or Ulta!

2010 formula

I don't have the original Zulu to compare this to, but I LOVE this version regardless! It's such a gorgeous shade of green. The finish makes it even more beautiful. The application was decent - a little streaking on the first coat, but smooth sailing after that. This is 3 coats. The dry time was longer than normal, but that's because I didn't use SV. I didn't use any topcoat actually.

Run, don't walk, to pick up your own bottle of Zulu. You need this! And Mash. Get Mash, too!

Ignore the messiness, these pics are pre-cleanup!

It's been a while since I used my MAC palettes, so I thought I'd show them some love. I chose to work with my neutral palette. Continue reading for a breakdown.

From China Glaze's Vintage Vixen Fall 2010 Collection

First Class Ticket is a deep purple (it's purple, I promise!) with bright blue shimmer. The shimmer isn't very noticeable indoors, but is gorgeous in the sun. Application on this one was fine. You can get away with one coat if you apply it very carefully, but you're safer with two. This is one of my favorites from the collection.

From Barielle's Shades of Summer 2009 Collection

Decadence is a beautiful shimmery teal that glows like nobody's business. I love everything about it! The formula was great: opaque in one coat (I did two anyway), smoothed itself out, shiny on its own (I used SV because it's my crack), and cleanup (post pics obv) was a breeze. My nails are little jewels!

From Zoya's Fire & Ice Winter 2010 collection.

Valerie is such a gorgeous shade! It's a bordeaux base with tarnished gold sparkles. The color of the sparkles isn't as noticeable on the nail, but the depth is incredible and there's still a flash of gold in the right lighting. I think I'll keep this on for a few days! Valerie applied very smoothly and was opaque in two coats. Drying time was lightning fast with the help of SV.

Judging from the spoons posted on various blogs, I know I'll end up with the rest of the collection very soon. So sparkly!
