Dose of Lola

The Deborah Lippmann Until Your Dreams Come True music box set is so special. Not only does it contain 15 gorgeous mini polishes, but the music box plays a song sung and written by Deborah Lippmann herself. She started her career as a musician, and music means so much to her that all her polishes are song titles. Included in the music box is a card with the song lyrics, DL's signature, and a number out of 500. Opening this up was such a magical experience.

Here's a quick, low quality video I shot:

Now onto the polishes. I'm splitting my swatches up into 3 parts to avoid overwhelming you, and to have multiple opportunities to gush over this set.

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann Love Will Leave A Mark is a deep oxblood creme. It is named for her brother and business partner Mark. This shade is a perfect vamp for fall, and it went on in two perfect coats.

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann We Are Family is a dark but vibrant purple jelly. You'll have to forgive me for my messy swatch; I was filing my nails in between shots. Stunning color.

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann I Dreamed a Dream is a red shimmer. It's a bit deeper than Deborah Lippmann New York State of Mind but just as glowy. Perfect formula on this one.

2 coats over Deborah Lippmann We Are Family

Deborah Lippmann 1999 is a shift blue/purple flecked shimmer in a purple base. I thought it would be sheer, so I layered it. This polish packs a punch, though, and is opaque on its own in 3 coats.

2 coats, 1 coat Deborah Lippmann Addicted to Speed

Deborah Lippmann Looks Like We Made It is a red jelly base packed with silver and red glitter. I wore this as a full mani, hence the top coat. Such a fabulous glitter!

That's all for now. If you'd like to purchase this set (retails for $195) or listen to the full song, you can do so here.

The next Lippmann 15th anniversary set I have to show you is called I've Gotta Be Me. This 6-piece set is pretty much the epitome of what I consider fall appropriate.

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann Fashionably Late is a dusty eggplant creme; its a slightly lighter OPI Mis You-niverse The formula is perfection.

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann Stand By Your Man is a red with a touch of pink crelly. It dries incredibly shiny, and the formula is great.

3 coats

Deborah Lippmann You've Got A Friend is a mauve-y nude creme. DL seems to really like this shade because it's along the same vein as Sweet Life and Modern Love. Not that I'm complaining...I love it! What I don't love is YGAF's formula. It's streaky, so extra is need when applying.

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann This One's On Me is a stunner. It's a vibrant purple base loaded with shifty red shimmer. It's very similar to OPI Every Month Is Oktoberfest. Actually, I want to say they're identical, but I haven't swatched them together yet, so I'll save my thoughts for the comparison post. Whether it's unique or not, this is an absolutely stunning shade.

The next two shades are extremely complex shades that are difficult to describe in words or pics, so if you get the chance, go look at this set in person.

3 coats

Deborah Lippmann Ya Got Trouble is a shifty bronze/copper shimmer. Even though I don't think it's the most flattering color on me, I cannot deny how interesting and beautiful this polish is.

3 coats

Deborah Lippmann Running On Faith is by far my favorite from this set, and it is easily in my top 5 favorite DLs of all time. There's this greenish blue cast that I couldn't quite capture, and the shimmer mix is so very complex. I don't doubt that this shade will be released as a single at some point. It's too interesting to only exist as a mini.

Gorgeous set, right? I've not been this pleased with a DL set since last year's Starlight set. I've Gotta Be Me is the perfect combination of colors and finishes; I consider this a must-have.

The Deborah Lippmann 15th Anniversary I've Gotta Be Me Set retails for $49 and is available for purchase here.

To celebrate her company's 15th anniversary, Deborah Lippmann has released three (3-pc, 6-pc, and 15-pc) sets of gorgeous mini polishes. Naturally, I bought them all and am so excited to share my swatches with you. First up is this three-piece set called Celebration.

3 coats

Deborah Lippmann Big Spender is a yellow gold flecked shimmer. The finish is beautiful, but this one color that never looks good on me. There are literally no exceptions. The formula is lovely, though.

3 coats

Deborah Lippmann New York State of Mind is a bight, shiny, red shimmer. Pretty much every polish brand has a red shimmer, so this is not exactly unique. However, that doesn't take away from how glowy and vibrant this is. The formula is a touch on the thin side but still great to work with.

1 coat dabbed onto New York State of Mind

Deborah Lippmann It's My Party is the reason I decided to buy this set. The glitter mix is so fun! There's peach mini hex, butter yellow micro hex, red and baby blue squares...it goes on. I'm seriously in love with this glitter and think it will look amazing over white or in a jelly sammy. It's My Party is not as dense as most of DL's recent glitters, so it's easier to apply and is not at all thirsty.

Overall, Celebration is just okay. Unless you really need another yellow gold and red shimmer, I recommend skipping this and keeping your fingers crossed that she releases It's My Party as a single.

Deborah Lippmann's Celebration trio retails for $29 and is available for purchase here

There are no rules when it comes to polish colors (at least no rules that should be taken seriously), but if you're anything like me, you're probably drawn toward season appropriate shades for your manis. Don't get me wrong - I have no problem wearing brights in the winter and vamps in the spring, but something about a neon in summer and a deep, rich red in fall just seems so right.

So, I've been wearing the same shade of bright coral all summer, but I think now is the time to transition into something that screams, "fall is almost here! Let's go boot shopping!"

The perfect summer to fall transition for me is super short nubs (to prep for vamps, of course) and a nude palate cleanser. A subtle mani after weeks of brights is like a breath of fresh air, isn't it?

My go-to, absolute favorite nude would have to be Dior Incognito.

2 coats

Dior Incognito is my all-time favorite nude because it has enough pink in it to save me from having corpse or mannequin hands. I've reviewed this previously, so I won't bore you with another review. Just know that it's amazing! I stamped over Incognito with Konad white and an image from BM-419. I've always used Butter London's top coat over my stamping with no problems, but of course this time it decided to smear.

I'll wear this for a few days and then dive into my first "fall appropriate" mani (definitely DL One More Night).

Do you gravitate towards the shades of the season, or are you more, "anything goes" when it comes to your manis? And don't forget to check out these other amazing takes on transitioning from summer to fall!
