Dose of Lola

This quint was released with the Addicted to Dior Summer 2010 collection along with Ready To Glow. It's available at Dior counters and dior.com, and retails for $58. I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed with this quint.

The colors in this quint are gorgeous. I love the warm (but not too warm) shades as well as the random plummy mauve. Surprisingly, the mauve color (bottom left) is my favorite of the quint. The texture is nice, and the shadows blend very easily together. The shimmer factor is high, but that should be expected with an iridescent quint.

The trouble started when I wore the quint. The shadows were not as pigmented as I'd hoped, so they didn't show up true to pan on my skin. This quint would look great on lighter skintones, but it was a bit too sheer for mine. Also, I experienced some creasing. I've never had a problem with and of my other quints creasing, so I thought maybe it was user error. I wore nothing but Crush Glow for a week straight, and I creased regardless of the primer I chose. So weird!

It's pretty much a quint of lid colors and highlighters for. The bronze color is not deep or complex enough to use in the crease, so this isn't a very versatile quint.

Overall, I do like the quint, but it's not the go-to summer quint I was hoping for. I've found myself reaching for Beige Massai much more often lately.

You'll love this if: you love shimmer, warm to neutral colors, or semi-sheer shadows.

You'll leave this if: you're a matte kinda girl, you're very cool toned (check out Ready to Glow!), or you like a very versatile quint.

Lately, I've heard a few people suggest that Sunset Cafe and Crush Glow are similar. I don't see it at all, so I figured I'd post my swatches and let you decide for yourself. The only thing they have in common is the fact that they're my two least favorite quints....but I'll save my reviews for another post.

At the moment, at least. :) NARS  Dolce Vita is probably the first and only lipstick I'll ever use up and repurchase. It's great on its own, but I was in Heaven when I paired it with MAC Viva Glam V last week. Love.

I've been wearing this combo every day for over a week. I'm addicted!!

I forgot I owned MAC Honour until a fellow MuT poster requested a comparison of that and NARS Albatross. Luckily, it didn't take me too long to find it tucked away with all my other unused pro pan blushes. After a quick self-scolding, I got to work. I added Sertao to the comparison because, quite frankly, Honour is so much closer to that than Albatross. On with the show!

Sertao, Honour, Albatross

Same order in swatches:

Sertao is much more opaque than Honour, but if applied less heavily, they're basically identical on my skin. Albatross gives off a strong yellow-gold sheen. Definitely different.

I'll be compiling my NARS shadow swatches here, so everytime I haul one (or five), refer to this post for swatches.

Sidenote: I saw someone post that MAC shadows are far superior to NARS and Stila. Uhh lol...what? Every brand has hits and misses and to place all MAC shadows above every other brand is simply delusional...

Yesterday after my exam, I spent a few hours going through my stash, and getting right of things I know I'd never use. I was pretty ruthless, except for my lip products. Why? Well, I had a big lip product phase only a couple moths ago where I binged on new purchases almost every day, so most of my lippies are still pretty new. The old junk was super easy to get rid of, but a fresh YSL RV lippie? Nope, can't do it! I did end up putting some aside to give away/swap, but I still have quite a few. Anyway, enough rambling, onto the pictures.

Isn't it purdy? I spent the night at my apartment, and I miss it already! :)

I couldn't fit everything on there though, so I had some spillage....

Overall, I'm happy with the size of my collection now. Before, I was always frustrated because looking at my stash never made me happy, and what's the point of having a bunch of makeup that doesn't make you happy?
