Deborah Lippmann Fall 2012 Swatches & Review

by - 11 September

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann Modern Love is as dusty, pinky mauve creme. I was expecting to hate this because I generally dislike mauve polish, but there's something sophisticated and elegant about this shade.

2 coats

Deborah Lippmann Let's Go Crazy is Happy Birthday glitter in a purple base. It's along the same vein of Forget You and Candy Shop. The purple base isn't quite jelly enough, so it sort of falls flat. A better version of this could be achieved with a jelly sandwich with Verity Deep Violet and Happy Birthday.

The formula on both of these was great. Modern Love was a dream to apply (self-leveling, perfect consistency), and Let's Go Crazy was quite pigmented and not too thin or thick. I didn't wait between coats, and the glitter from the first coat pretty much stayed put.

I'm hoping Deb has something really exciting planned for her holiday collection.

Both Modern Love and Let's Go Crazy are $16 on Apothica.com. Let's Go Crazy is $2 more everywhere else, so Apothica would be a great place to purchase it.

Both are lovely. On a nail wheel I tried Deep Verity and with NYS Hot Purple with HB and made a jelly sandwich looks much better. Thanks for the tip :D

  10. It is. :) I might dilute the base a bit to make it more jellyish, though.
